UBC BROCK COMMONS
UBC Brock Commons, the tallest mass timber building in the world, is located on the University Of British Columbia Campus in Vancouver, Canada.
This 18 story student residence, will be home to 404 students. Each of the 305 suites include kitchen facilities.
The building comprises 17 storeys of mass timber construction set above one storey of concrete and two concrete stair cores which serve all floors and reach a total height of 53 metres.
Brock Commons is a noteworthy accomplishment utilizing a hybrid system comprised of CLT floor slabs, glulam columns, steel connectors and concrete cores. The building will connect to the UBC District Energy System and has been designed to target LEED Gold certification.
